What is WSWBC?
WSWBC is managed by a volunteer board of directors from all over the province who represent a wide variety of interests. Their ongoing mandate is to create programs that develop athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers at many different levels of towed water sports from grass roots to current and former World Champions . WSWBC members are renown for their excellence in their home communities, throughout the province, across the country, and around the world. We thank all our sponsors for there continuing support as all these goals would not be possible without there support.
The competitive aspect of the sport is largely an individual sport supported by technicians (i.e. boat drivers, officials and coaches). In the non-competitive environment, the sport is a lifelong leisure pursuit and can be practised from very early ages well into the 80ıs and 90ıs depending on participantıs health and fitness levels. The fact that the sport reaches across many generations makes it a popular summer activity for families. It is estimated that 30% of BCıs population know how to Water Ski or Wakeboard and do so more than three times per year.
Membership in Water Ski & Wakeboard BC also includes membership in Water Ski Wakeboard Canada as well as the World Wakeboard Association. The organized aspect of the sport is delivered primarily through clubs distributed throughout the province and situated in popular lake districts. Introductory and learn to ski programs are also offered privately or through locally delivered Parks and Recreation programs.
BC has traditionally been a powerhouse in producing National and International level competitors and often leads the National scene in adapting to changes within the sport.
