    Everything you need to know about Towed Watersports in the BC Summer Games! BC Summer Games WSWBC is a proud participant in the BC Summer Games! Easily the best tournament of the year, the BC Summer Games is an amazing event that WSWBC is extremely gracious to be part of. WSWBC participants compete in the Towed Watersports portion of the event including Wakeboarding, Wakesurfing, Slalom, Trick & Jump. The Event Teams Competition What to expect July 18-21, 2024 Albert Dyck Park Athletes will be stay in Maple Ridge and be bussed to the competition site. Events will include one round of - Slalom, Trick, Wakeboard, Wakesurf and Jump Athletes can choose up to three events. Medals will be awarded for each event and team overall scores by zone Competition The official competiton schedule will be posted closer to the event. It will likely include 1/2 day of familiarization and 3 days of competion. Awards will be held onsite each afternoon. There will be one round of Slalom, Trick, Wakeboard, Wakesurf & Jump. Each athlete is allow to compete in upto 3 events The competition will be held at Albert Dyck Park which has held many high profile towed watersports events. There will be one age division (U18) All points scored in each event will be added to team tallies to determe the overall team placement Teams Teams of five are made from each of the 8 zones in the province. The Zone map is here . Zone Representatives are as follows: 1. Kootneys - Christine Dubois and Loree Duczek 2. Thompson Okanagan - Crystal McLeod 3. Fraser Valley - Frank Wedd 4. Fraser River - 5. Vancouver Coastal - 6. Vancouver Island - Central Coast - Jacob Chambers 7. North West - Tom & Stacey Birkhiem 8. Cariboo - North East - Tom & Stacey Birkhiem Zone Representatives will select their teams. Athletes must be 18 as of Jan 1st or younger What to expect Athletes will be informed of their inclusion on the team and will be provided a link to pay for the competiton An updated schedule, including opening & closing ceremonies and event times will be available closer to the event. Athletes, coaches and chaperones will be bussed to their accomodations. See the BC Games website for bussing details. They will also be supplied to you in a email from the games. Accomodations will be in school classrooms. Sleeping bags and pillows are required All meals will be provided by the games. Bag lunches will be provided. Athletes will stay at the competition venue for the entire day so changes of clothing, hats & sun protection are required. Supervised evening activities will take place at various locations

Nominations can be from individuals or clubs. Categories C URTIS MC DONELL MEMORIAL TROPHY Presented each year to an individual or group who has made outstanding contributions to the sport. Recipient of this award is chosen by the WSWBC Awards Committee from nominations received from the membership. KIM DEMACEDO SKIER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Established in 1987 to commemorate Kim’s achievements that year, helping Canada win the World Junior Championship title and being named to the Senior National Team, at the age of 14. In 1993 a special tier was added to the trophy to recognize Kim’s winning Women’s Jump at the Worlds in Singapore, and the Overall title at the US Open. Presented each year to a water ski athlete for outstanding performance achievement or improvement. Recipient of this award are chosen by the WSWBC Awards Committee from nominations received from the membership. JEFF HEER WAKEBOARD ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Is presented each year to a Wakeboard athlete who has had outstanding results and improvement during the season. The recipient of this award is chosen by the WSWBC Awards Committee from nominations received from the membership. JAMES BALZER WAKESKATE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Is presented each year to a Wakeskate athlete who has had outstanding results and improvement during the season. The recipient of this award is chosen by the WSWBC Awards Committee from nominations received from the membership. RICHARD GRAY BAREFOOT ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Is presented each year to a Barefoot athlete who has had outstanding results and improvement during the season. The recipient of this award is chosen by the WSWBC Awards Committee from nominations received from the membership. C LUB OF THE YEAR AWARD Considerations will include a club that has hosted major tournament successfully, made great progress in developing young skiers, increased membership and introduced the sport to many new athletes, etc. Generally, one club will stand out at year’s end and will be selected by the WSWBC Awards Committee from nominations received from the membership. COACH OF THE YEAR A Coach of the year will be selected by the WSWBC Awards Committee from nominations received from the membership. This individual will have made outstanding contributions to coaching and to athlete development in BC. This coach may also have made significant personal development improvements or have contributed significantly in their service as a coach. J UNIOR COA CH OF THE YEAR A junior coach of the year will be selected by the WSWBC Awards Committee from nominations received from the membership. This individual will be recognized for outstanding participation as a junior coach and for contributing to the development of the junior team. PETER PERSON WATER SKI OFFICIAL OF THE YEAR An offic ial will be selected by the WSWBC Awards Committee from nominations received from the membership. This individual will be recognized for outstanding participation as an Classic Three Event official and for contributions to officiating and officials development in BC. MIKE MCCOMB WAKEBOARD OFFICIAL OF THE YEAR An official will be selected by the WSWBC Awards Committee from nominations received from the membership. This individual will be recognized for outstanding participation as an Wakeboard official and for contributions to officiating and officials development in BC. BAREFOOT OFFICIAL OF THE YEAR An official will be selected by the WSWBC Awards Committee from nominations received from the membership. MOST IMPROVED ATHLETE AWARDS Are presented to male and female athletes who are an athlete who qualified in age as a junior in the discipline the award is for as of January 1 of the award year, and have shown the most improvement in their performances.
